In the period, 1900-1950, a number of small family farms were settled in Lammers
township. An important feature of these farms was the presence of a small herd of
dairy cattle. Consequently, barns were required for shelter and all farms had such
a building. As small family farms became economically less viable after 1950, farming
slowly diminished and the barns either were used for housing beef animals, horses,
for storage or were abandoned. A small number of barns remain; photographs were
taken of these remaining buildings in the period 2000-2010. Representative photos
are presented here. The barns are identified by original builder and/or one or more
of the subsequent owners.
